*THE DEADLINE TO REGISTER FOR THIS COURSE IS MONDAY MARCH 8TH*
Virtual Babysitting Course- offered over four days online, 1.5 hours per day. We will have breaks and a class outline will be emailed after registration with a description of what will be covered along with any homework assignments to be completed before the course.
Participants must attend all sessions. There will be no make-up sessions for classes missed. Each participant will be mailed a babysitting kit that they can use moving forward as well as during the class. The babysitting manual will be mailed to the participant directly from Red Cross. This class will be taught through Zoom Meeting technology. Participants will need a device that supports Zoom technology with audio and video capability and high-speed internet. Parents are not required to attend the course with their youth, however, they should be reachable during the course sessions.
The Babysitting course refreshed and revised, now has a greater emphasis on First Aid skills. The Canadian Red Cross Babysitting course covers everything from managing difficult behaviours to essential content on leadership and professional conduct as a babysitter. Babysitting promises to deepen and enhance the responsibility that older youth feel when caring for younger children. This updated curriculum, complete with new science, also provides improved learning when it comes to giving the appropriate care in the event of an emergency.

Check, Call, Care (includes phoning EMS/911), glove removal, recovery position, conscious choking (adult/child/baby/alone), CPR (baby/child), illness, asthma (includes the use of an inhaler and spacer), anaphylaxis (includes the use of an EpiPen), poisoning, insect stings, wound care (i.e. minor cuts and scrapes, splinters, nosebleeds, bumps and bruises, life-threatening bleeding, burns), head, neck and back injuries, broken bones, seizures.
